Trios for French Horn, Violin, and Piano brings together a century of writing for one of chamber music's most distinctive combinations. Brahms's Horn Trio, Op. 40, moves from the warmth of a country morning to something vast and searching where music that feels like memory, like longing, like coming home. Koechlin's Quatre Petites Pièces offers four quiet, luminous counterpoints. Tolga Özdemir's Chaopolis, commissioned by Sierra Ensemble and presented here in its U.S. premiere recording, pushes the trio into entirely new territory.
